DEL PUERTO CANYON, STANISLAUS CO., CALIF.

John and I went out to Del Puerto Canyon
in order to catch some Uni Crotales for his thesis
work. We planned to work various localities
during the late afternoon and then might drive
the paved (lower) part of the road.
We worked two localities during the late
afternoon but got or even saw very little. Only at
the following (second) site did we have any luck.

Cnemictophorus Shot
along the road above the stream.
Sceloporus several seen on
the trees and rocks.
Thamnophis a large gravid
female in the grass along the side of the stream.
Pituicatermic heard calling along the
stream.

Got the following night driving.
Pitophis melanoleucus catenifer - 1.0 miles
W. of I-5 on the Del Puerto Canyon Rd. DOTZ
in the late afternoon. In the grassy area
west east of the hills. Saw several others this
night.
Crotalus viridis - got two
off the paved section. one locality does
The smaller individual was found about 2 mi.
