Sceloporus jarrovi minor Jim &
Sam got many of these animals off the
soft gypsum walls of the upper reaches of
the gully (photos). They would duck into the
numerous crevices upon approach but the crevices
could be pried open easily due to the crumbly
nature of the rock.
Color in life of 83: Head dark blue;
color black; body yellow-green; tail and legs
dark blue (but not as dark as head). Lateral
parts of belly and throat dark blue - lateral
parts of belly bordered medially by black. Black
spot on side just anterior to insertion of rear leg.
Color in life of 72: Dull brown over all;
dorsum; posterior light border of collar faint copper
gold in some specimens.
70-71 Sceloporus parvus Found
under logs on the cleared upper slope. Hand
caught in the debris under the legs.
Color in life (#70): lower sides anteriorly pinkish; lateral
part of venter light green but midventral area light; throat yellow
as is undersides of thighs and preanal area.
Color in life (#71): only slightly rusty wash on laterals.
