Green 1927 Colorado River. Lower Calig [illegible] 20 miles S. of Pilot Track. Oct. 17, 1927 shift and covered some of the small swamps, but we found we could get better results by wading as the water is very shallow and thick with willows. We saw many ducks & herons the black birds flew here and there around us constantly but not very close. This evening I shot a Black Crowned Night Heron on Imature. just as I was a-bout to pick it up a duck hawk came over and stopped to get it but saw me and flew away.
