July 15 Sometimes one parent would pause an instant on a small tree near the nest entrance but at the entrance itself they did not hesitate at all, popping in and out so fast it was usually impossible to identify the food they carried. July 16 Yesterday afternoon when passing the Wright Flycatcher nest just above camp (see notebook J.P. page 2491?) I was surprised to see a Wright Flycatcher sitting. When flushed from the nest she flew to a nearby twig and returned to her brooding as soon as I withdrew. There were three eggs in the nest. At about six-thirty last evening we went down to the Chickadee's nest at the meadow edge for one more look. We cut into it a little way and found that two of the young, at least, were alive. We tied the strip of wood we had just removed back in place and before departing waited until we had seen the parents feed several times. On down the meadow we
