H.W. Grinnell -1915 32. Yosemite, Calif. August 15 This evening at early dusk, 6:30 I came upon a King Snake lying in the Eagle Peak trail, near the spring on the talus slope. The snake's head was hidden in a crevise between the rocks and he seemed very sluggish. At the foot of the trail a few minutes later the children started a doe. Several deer have been reported on the valley floor within the past two weeks: a doe with two fawns, seen at Camp 15 about 6:30 a.m.; two bucks, a doe, and two fawns along the creek near the junction of Yosemite Creek with the Merced; and a buck seen several times between the foot of the Eagle Peak trail and the foot- bridge to Camp Ahwahnee. Lampropeltis sp. multicincta no. 135 September 2 We lunched today on Lady Franklin Rock, near the base.
