Grinnell - 1915
27
Yosemite, Calif.
A tangle of pine roots and down
into a small pool. I should
judge from his appearance that
he had been out of the nest only
a few days.
July 7
Found the Warbling Vireo's
nest in the Rhamnus Bush
empty today, also the S Spurred
Towhee's by the stump, but
the scolding of the parent
Towhee showed that the
young were still in the
vicinity. Climbed the young
black oak to look at the
Warbling Vireos there and the
young took flight from the
nest as my weight jarred the
tree. They were fully feathered.
July 9
Spent an hour on the
veranda at Glacier Point Hotel
today. Guests were throwing
lunches of sugar and bits
of bread over the railing to the
ground a few feet below, for
the squirrels. One ground.
