Grinnell - 1915 27 Yosemite, Calif. A tangle of pine roots and down into a small pool. I should judge from his appearance that he had been out of the nest only a few days. July 7 Found the Warbling Vireo's nest in the Rhamnus Bush empty today, also the S Spurred Towhee's by the stump, but the scolding of the parent Towhee showed that the young were still in the vicinity. Climbed the young black oak to look at the Warbling Vireos there and the young took flight from the nest as my weight jarred the tree. They were fully feathered. July 9 Spent an hour on the veranda at Glacier Point Hotel today. Guests were throwing lunches of sugar and bits of bread over the railing to the ground a few feet below, for the squirrels. One ground.
