grinnell -19/5 26 Yosemite, Calif. White-throated Swifts and a few Violet-green Swallows circling about the rock. July 5 Went up Sierra Point this morning. From the top of the trail saw about twenty-five Violet-green Swallows flying about just beneath but no Swifts. From this vantage point the violet-green on the backs of the swallows could be seen splendidly. July 6 Watched a young Water Ouzel on a log in Indian Creek, about seventy-five feet north of the road to Kenneyville. He kept dobbling up and down in true adult fashion and blinking, the white nictitating membrane flashing into view at every blink and showing very conspic- ouously. When disturbed he flew upstream and out of sight be- hind a small waterfall where the stream fell three feet over
