Grinnell - 1965 Yosemite, Calif. June 24 The Holmie wabblers eggs seem nearly ready to hatch. All four of the wandering vireo's eggs have hatched. One of the eggs of the spurred towhee near the stump has hatched, either yesterday or this morning. The young chipping sparrows are out of the nest, and we found one of them dead on the ground beneath. They cannot fly yet, and I think were forced to leave the nest when still too young as it had listed badly under their weight. Saw three young juncos with their parents. They flew readily up into the trees when disturbed. Watched a junco nest- building on the beam under the roof of the porch at cottage No. 6 this morning.
