Grinnell -19/5 Yosemite, Calif. predaceous bird or animal. No trace of the other parent was seen. The young had apparently died of cold or hunger, as their bodies were mangled. A young robin seen today flew readily and seemed almost full grown, yet was still being fed by the parent. The first young juncos to be seen out of the nest was dis- covered today in the grass under some young cedars. My at- tention was attracted to it by hearing its calls for food. As I approached it fluttered away thru the grass, both parents calling excitedly from the cedars, one on each side of me. June 22 The little chipping spar- rows are growing very fast. Two of the warblits vireos eggs hatched today.
