Grinnell -19/5
Yosemite, Calif.
predaceous bird or animal.
No trace of the other parent was
seen. The young had apparently
died of cold or hunger, as their
bodies were mangled.
A young robin seen today flew
readily and seemed almost
full grown, yet was still being
fed by the parent.
The first young juncos to be
seen out of the nest was dis-
covered today in the grass under
some young cedars. My at-
tention was attracted to it by
hearing its calls for food. As
I approached it fluttered
away thru the grass, both
parents calling excitedly from
the cedars, one on each side
of me.
