Grinnell - 1915 Yosemite, Calif The nest at the stump base was visited and contents found to be still intact. The parent was seen and proved to be a spurred towhee. At the first towhee nest found both parents remained in plain view among the bushes and scolded vigorously. At this nest, however, only one parent has been seen glimpsed and it has slipped silently away. A robin's nest was noted this afternoon by the path across the meadow, very near to Sentinel Bridge. It was about ten feet up in a small sapling and the head of a young bird could be seen over the nest edge. There is a blackbird's nest in a blackberry bush in this same meadow. The bush stands in a deep pool of water, so a near approach to the nest is impossible. Today, regardless of the scolding,
