San Miguel Island
Santa Barbara, Calif.
Sept. 20, 1927
6.
Out of 14 mouse traps set
I caught 8 last night and only
2 this for. But 8 traps were
missing this morning I think
they had mice in them and
the wild tame cat ran off
with them. There were 3 female
and 8 male.
I set 5 sets of steel traps for
fox and two traps were sprung
but the sets contained nothing.
We went over a barren stretch
of sand ice plant soapstone
and petrified wood to the
west side of the island.
Horned larks and linnets
were the only bird we saw
ging over, and I heard
a few rock wrens. The
birds are very wild.
On the west side of saw
saw gulls and ravens
and one small bunch
of shore birds. Observed very
windy all the way over
