Green 1927 San Miguel Island Santa Barbara, Calif. Sept. 20, 1927 6. Out of 14 mouse traps set I caught 8 last night and only 2 this for. But 8 traps were missing this morning I think they had mice in them and the wild tame cat ran off with them. There were 3 female and 8 male. I set 5 sets of steel traps for fox and two traps were sprung but the sets contained nothing. We went over a barren stretch of sand ice plant soapstone and petrified wood to the west side of the island. Horned larks and linnets were the only bird we saw ging over, and I heard a few rock wrens. The birds are very wild. On the west side of saw saw gulls and ravens and one small bunch of shore birds. Observed very windy all the way over
