Green 1927 North end Nacogdoche Valley 3400 ft. Lower Calif, Mex. 76. Nov. 17, 1927 I set 10 more rat traps tonight in sandy rocky soil. I saw and heard several western quail at dusk this 17th. The flock of quail I surprised was the first flock I had seen since we were camped here. I saw several flickers tonight and a flock of 15 or 20 meadow larks. There was a young chicken with the quail feeding and walking right along with them. I shot a red headed grosbeak but too well to put up. I used & rebaited all trap tonight.
