I hunted 4 miles north of here in a large series of sand dunes covered with mesquite. The thrashers seemed plentiful but wild. I guess the distance by an hour and a half steady, fast, walking each way. I saw one rattlesnake which disappeared in a rat hole. I just heard a screech owl.
