August 15 Walked around some property nears Alden Hayes' house that his son would sell us. Alden carries an O2 rig for his emphysema, and Karen was/warnin Kelly as we left that tough night pull the tube loose and Alden wouldn't wear it - which indeed happened. I commented that the escaping gas sounded like a rattler and Alden commented that he can't hear rattlers anymore either!
Endless delays packing and leaving - Church Rock for lunch etc.
Finally set off ~ 1700 hr and make camp in Cochise Stronghold of the Dragon Mtns @ ~ 1930hr.
August 16 Cochise Stronghold Campground is at ~ 5060' el. Morning clear, calm, not to hot. At breakfast an Acorn Woodpecker is chasing a nuthatch from a tree. Lots of mosquitoes last night. Between 800 - 1000 hr we hunt the first 1/2 mile of the Cochise Trail, get 16 Sceloporus janovii and see many more, but no snakes. I took photos at 5400' el from a
