Florence, H. 1997 June 10 ~0600 In a tremendous wind storm whooshes me. By 0700h sky is dark overcast and there are wispy clouds on the peaks. (An aside: I can't recall anything comparable re terrestrial frogs as prey and tropical forest to the abundance and visibility (and audibility!) of Megophrys latidis in the stream beds here -- maybe some of the big Eleutherodactylus?). At 0730h the clouds are streaming down the canyon outside our window, the surrounding ridges obscured by mist. In the AM Kelly and Maijorie check several sites w/ GPS, while Dave Hardy radiolocated the TS #1 to leaf litter on the ground near last night's site. At 1600h British film crew arrives to do segment for Discovery Channel w/ me, on snake evolution led by Ailsa [sic] and Brendan. Discussion w/ Kelly, Natasha, and Nikolai re Lycodon-Dinodon project, for which KZ will do the molecular work. By 1700h Tam Dao almost totally socked in w/ clouds and very light fine drizzle -- and more fitting insects. At 1920 h a Polypedates leucomystax 2m above ground and 10m from staircase
