Greene, H. 1990 November 11 (continued) Incident this AM. Shortly after leaving, near the turnoff to Ngoto Swamp, we caught a gravid & chameleon elliotti crossing the road in sun, approx 1400h (not noted). Ruhiisha, Bwindi Forest Reserve, Kabale Dist., Uganda At 1615h, as we pulled up the last hill to the field station, I spotted a spectacular large (56g) d. S. johnstoni perpendicular to the late afternoon sun, approx 3 m up on a slender emergent roadside plant, facing down (thus ready for sleep?). Bright line green w/ bright yellow bars on sides. It started down the stem as we approached for photographs - most impressive chameleon encounter I've had yet! Terrific dinner from can goods at Jon's (Tom is in Kampala lobbying for National Park status for Bwindi), w/ Bob frying the ham on a camp stove, drink in hand, our version of the jovial backyard barbeque host. We gorged on ham, chutney (big can), corn, and macaroni w/ cheese. November 12 Slept fitfully - woke up at 0200h thinking of how to get my live stuff home safely. Everyone bitchy this AM - Tom nicknamed Jim
