Greene, H. 1985 21 April (continued) from ~1835 to til 2000 then had desert in yellow and drove back. Only snake was a very cold adult Arizona elegans, AOR at 1930m, 0.7m. S. of Natl Trails Hwy on Pisgah Water Rd. Forgot to say we continued to collect scat today, including Lynx and both species of Canids. Claudia took several from a burrow mouth where we stopped for Xantusia - a little puzzling since they were the right size for Vulpes, but the burrow stuck me as more likely coyote (~8-10" x 12-14"). This whole trip I've been impressed by the number of bobcat, fox, and coyote scat we've seen. 22 April Up at 0600 to pack. Checked the Crotalus mitchelli - still in the crack, but in a side crack and ca. 14" into the lava. Could see only the edge of a coil. Left ~0715.
