Greene, H. 1988 4 january such that I took photos first without flash. However, (continued) I recall a few other instances (e.g., the first Lachesis I saw at La Selva) of open day coils. A cloudy but mornful night - I made two circuits around the lab clearing sidewalks without seeing anything, after dark. A visitor saw an adult Microtirus nigrocinetus at dusk, on the path to the Old River Station. 5 january From 0900-1030h I walked to CC 420m and back, by way of the Camino Circular and Sendero Oriental. Rained at night until dawn, and a cloudy, humid but cool morning. Found the Lachesis muta in the same spot but with head facing south, unlike yesterday. Going to lunds I could spot the large orange ♂ Iguana iguana on the SE bank of the river, 2 ♂? near the bridge on the NW bank, and 1 ♂ at the river bend downstream - and one N. of the river near the volleyball court - but I still have a feeling these are calming down for them. After dinner, I walked to the Old River Station, out SOR & CCC to the back side of Sendero Cantarana, through it and out the CES to 300m, then around the lab clearing and out on to the river bridge for one last look for Polyergus in the adjacent trees.
