Herrera, H. 1987 18 Decembe[r] bridge was invisible and the log jam almost (continued) submerged. David Clarke showed me a big ? Brolypus variogatus right next to the bridge, and many photos were taken. After lunch there was intermittent sun and I could see a large ? Iguana iguana on each bank of the river and opposite sides of the bridge - I'd guess 75-100m apart. They were each very easily visible to me, and I wonder how far apart they can see each other? Rain again in the Valverde afternoon. Jose Miguel Alvarez brought me a Bothrops asper that he found on the CCC, and which was "muy bravo" (28.5g). Walked to the end of SOR and back w/ Carol Farneti and Carmen Roldan - saw 1 Agalychnis saltator and several Hyba elaeochroa in the Cantarona Swamp, and at least 4 adult Leptodactylus pertadactylus along the SOR. At 2032 h we found a small Smartobas conchoa ≈ 0.8m above ground beside the SOR, near the turn-off to "Rafael's House" (3.9g, 424+190mm). When first discovered, the snake was extended upward at a steep angle, such that ≈30cm was in space. After gaining the next stem, it hung out over a fleck green leaf and tongue-flicked its surface without any actual contact or movement of the leaf. 19 Decembe[r] Rained off and on all last night and this mornin' - at times very hard. After breakfast there was sporadic sun as I crossed the bridge. There
