1987
16 August fine, and in my view unlikely to have possibly (continued) caused a bite. I later gave the snakes to Ayako English, who relocated them to East Bay M.H.D. land nearby.
27 August Tucson, Pima Co., Arizona
Arrived here ~1900 hr, having left Berkeley in my new Toyota truck yesterday at 1500hr, odometer at 510.6 miles. It is 900 miles from my apartment to the home of D.L. Hardy, where I am staying.
28 August Lunch w/ Howard Lauster at the Desert Museum
30 August attended "shower" for Sylvia Lauster, who will deliver any day now, at the home of Jim & Linda Tarsch (he is a vet, specializes in reptiles). Met Brent Martin, studying Heloderma w/ Jowe, whom I corresponded w/ >10 years ago.
31 August Met Robert Robichaux at the U. of Arizona, my host for the sabbatical month here. He showed me my office space on Tumamoc Hill, introduced me to Paul Martin, etc. After dinner, I went hunted ~1900-2100hrs on the western bajada of the Tucson Mountains and in the Arava Valley. A large thunderstorm in the western sky, but overhead stars and a ~ 1/2 moon. Saw 4 Crotalus atrox (2 juveniles), 1 C. trivirgatus, 1 C. scutulatus, and 1 C. cerastes; and 1 Bufo cognatus.
