Greene, H. 1987 21 June (continued) I noticed an adult Caiman crocodilus out on a mud bank in partial shade, and numerous Rhinoclemys f. furcata basking in full sun on overcast tree trunks in the Rio Puerto Viejo. A hot and sunny, partly cloudy Sunday morning! Chatteed all afternoon, except for a trip to the water fall. Brief rain in the late afternoon. Checked the lacosis muta at CES 530 at 1929 hr, found it alert under the S. side of the tree, facing S (ie, towards the fallen log. (Forgot to mention that there were bats flying through the room throughout the dance last night, suggesting to us that it would be a great place for a Halloween Party!) 22 June To San Jose this afternoon, including great views of canyons on the edge of Braulio Casillo. 23 June To the "Serpentarium" - Instituto Clodomiro Picado - w/ the O.T.S. class for lectures and demonstrations. Dinner at a nice little french restaurant near the Universidad de Costa Rica, w/ Carmen Rojas. 24 June Up at 0530 to drive to Golfito w/ the O.T.S. course. Palma del Norte, Prov. Cartago, Costa Rica Stopped here for a picnic lunch in early afternoon, in a little park (w/o gazebo) across from the air strip. Saw several adult ♀ and ♂ Gonatodes albovarius active on large trees in the park.
