Greene, H.
1986
27 July Left Berkeley & noon and arrived in Mt. Shasta
in time for supper, after getting a room at the
Evergreen lodge. Then drove to Grasshopper Flat,
24.1 miles N. of Battle (Hwy 89) on Harris Spring Rd.
Arrived well before sunset, to look for more
Phrynosoma douglassii (see R.C. Stebbins notes
for earlier this month). Saw only deer, and
it seems too cool for lizard activity. Drove
3.2 miles further north to Pumice Stone Well, a
very picturesque pond in a meadow at
& 6100' and just below Pumice Stone Mountain.
Walked around looking for Thamnophis, and
saw lots of tadpoles and recently transformed
Hyla regilla. Flipped many cow pies, and
collected 13 Arlystoma macrodactylum under
them (saw others). Road hunted from & 2030-2330
hr, and saw only one Bufo boreas, one Charina
cottae, an adult and a young Eithhigon
together, and lots of rodent (Dipodonyx,
Perognathus for sure).
