Geese, H. 1985 13 August (continued) hot and sunny all day. Saw only two snakes, a fresh ?OR Pituophis melanoleucus at 2007 hr on Mile Wide Rd and an ??% juvenile Crotalus atrox at 2018 hr on the McCain Loop Rd (off Kinney Rd). Also saw 5 Canis latrans and a small adult Tupidea tapes, the latter a few minutes after the little C. atrox. Big coyote chorus around midnight at the Hardy's. 14 August Hot and sunny all day, dark moon. Road hunted same route as last night, 1930-2145 hr. [illegible] Saw only two snakes, a large ? AOR Trimerophodan bisculatus at 2018 hr on Mile Wide Rd. and a juvenile ?OR Crotalus atrox on McCain Loop a few minutes later. The lyre snake was in rocky upland desert, lots of saguaros; I picked it up gently and it only vibrated its tail. 15 August Drove from Tucson to Mojave, California. 111°F in the shade in Needles in mid-afternoon. 16 August Back in Berkeley x 1400 hr, 5450 miles later.
