Flere, H. 1982 10 March The bird shook the leaf free as it swallowed the (continued) caterpillar, while perched on a limb ~3 m above the ground (trail). (NB: Forgot to note that last night on the edge of Pajbaye Grove where the New Research Trail starts, I found a Mastigodryas melanormus asleep 2m above ground on leaves - I only saw it because of the bright orange belly - and earlier, ~300 (?)m out on the New Research Trail, I spotted a Lepidophyma florivacuulatum - seemingly a large adult - sitting in an opening ~1m up on a large tree, w/in the upper boundaries of the buttresses. After a minute or two w/ lights on it the lizard turned and went down a hole. It was present as before when we returned by the tree later.) Went out on New Research Trail from 2036-2230 w/ Beth Braker - saw no snakes, a few small Eleutherodactylus on leaves, and an adult ? Andis capito on a palm leaf ~.5m above ground beside the trail. Lepidophyma was not visible in the hole I saw it in last night. 11 March Started down the West River Rd, but got caught by an OTS student (Sally Horn) who had seen a "2 m" black snake in the arboretum.
