15 July (continued)
Research Trail at 450 m (CES). It struggled, musheal, tried to bite. Occupied all afternoon w/ TV, radio, and newspaper people from San Jose.
17 July
at 2200 discovered that D'Lachesis on Near Joop has left log, can't pick up signal. Saw a rat-size rodent w/ obvious cheek pouches (cf. Heteromyids) active in litter beside trail,
18 July
Saw 2 Sylvilagus brasiliensis on the CES (near O) at 0455 hr. in light rain.
at 1018 hr, ~400m on CES, I missed an adult Dendrophidion vinitor . Snake crawled rapidly off trail as I approached and I could see the blue interocular skin faintly as well as stripes in the tail. Froze at trailside but dashed out of sight into leaves when I grabbed,
19 July
Checked Lachesis off and on all day. at ~2230 hr saw a Philander opossum beside sidewalk near bathroom.
20 July
Checked both Lachesis on CES in late morning.
at 1127 hr, CES 160, caught and released hatchling Dendrophidion vinitor as it went off the trail; no palpable food. at 1128 hr, CES 150 m, missed a large Mastigodryas melanonus as it dashed off the trail and into a hole under an old treefall.
