1983 1 March Finca La Selva, Provencia Heredia, Costa Rica Reached here ~14:30 hr, raining since ~ Canizal on the road in. Craig Guyer had found a Gymnophis crossing the trail in the rain. 2 March Still raining, tho more or less stopped by mid afternoon and started again ~21:30 hr. at 13:05 hr went w/ Debbie Clark to 500 CES, where she saw a Lachesis muta on 27 February. It was an adult, coiled under a small (>1m high) palm in fairly open, primary forest. Snake not there and I couldn't find it. Walked back, then out CCL to CC and out the Swamper Trail to old Lachesis sight, but didn't see it. Got back ~14:45 and learned Debbie saw a big Lachesis ~1 hr earlier at CES 300m -she heard it
