1983 21 January continued ≈ westward. See Tapirus ("darta") Iacho (continued) at 700m el. at 1335hr, 2380'el., we paused on a ridge in the middle of a large finca. As we walked on across the finca (hot, sunny, highgrass, scatter ed large trees left for later lumbering [implied]), Aidio cought a good sized Elandtherodactylus in the grass at 710m el., 1351hs. As we neared forest edge, saw Felis once Iacho on trail, walked 2420'el. at 1445hs. Walked in forest Wd then N for ≈ 1 hour, saw crested guans. Finally reached a little house ≈1545 on the NW corner of cleared land, just N of where trail comes out of forest. The house has a metal roof, wood floor, faces a spectacular gorge on the west. There are a few clothes hung from plastic bags on beams, two flashlights on one wall, a fairly fresh toothbrush, and a shot bottle of something for cattle. There's a rolled up foam sleeping pad. No door on the west, what amounts to a porch. A few feet W of the house is a covered cookin area - fireplace made out of a stump, some simple shelves, and a sort of washboard. There's a thick black hose from far away that's wrapped through nearly barbed wire and provides continuous good water. It can be easily moved to the washboard, where there's a crude, homemade wire clamp to hold it. On the shelves are a few glasses, dishes, pans, spoons, some cookin grease, and some salt. Also a
