1983 19 January Left #0745 w/ Carlos Gomez on the ridge trail that goes from just W. of our camp to the Rio Peje. Carlos dropped off to set up a net for birds at a creek. Reached 1280' on the trail at 1000 hrs. Saw an Eleutherodactylus w/ red thighs and a couple of Arolis. Partly cloudy. Caught an adult F' Arolis limifrons at 1200', 1005 hrs. At 1300', 1015 hrs, heard Albuetta. Got a Dendrobates pumilio at 1280' at 1050 hrs. Reached an Atta nest overlooking the Rio Peje at 1400'. Went a couple hundred meters more, then turned around. Saw an adult Oreixim in a light gap tangle - appeared to be foraging and at least 1m above ground, tho the tangle is continuous w/ the trail. Took a wrong turn and went down a trail to the Rio Peje - extremely steep, had some trouble getting up the slippery slope. Found right trail by then very hot & sweaty! At 1214 hours, 1320', got a Sphenomorphus cheniei active in litter beside the trail. At 1345 missed a small (x 3 cm) green-backed frog, maybe Rana palimpse. Saw another Sphenomorphus cheniei in sun beside the trail at 1200', 1355 hrs. G. Stiles brought me a Dendrophidion he found in the morning on the trail between the largest stream that crosses the trail to the Peje and the Rio, dead when he gave it to me. M. Graham brought in what seems to be an Arolis capito - has lots of green on sides of body. Audio
