Alene, H. 1979 10 march Point Pinole Regional Park, Contra Costa Co., California 0800 - 11:30 AM Zool 107 field trips to here yesterday & today. Reports on each day of Batrachoseps, Bufo, Hyla, Sceloporus, Gamborotus multicarinatus, Diadophis, and Pitophis. / Taricha found under litter in the biggest Eucalyptus Grove. My group found 2 Gamborotus and a Diadophis (all released). 1 lizard & The snake were under a log & board, respect, along the road by the shore, walking N. The other lizard under a very large log at the edge of the big eucalyptus grove. Both Gamborotus were males, w/ serrren in their peres. The Diadophis had a nice tail display, st was on a thick grass mat under a plank. We saw 3 active Microtus nests. 1600 PM I returned to turn trash across from the park entrance - found 2 Batrachoseps and 1 Diadophis. The snake was a very dark one w/ orange belly, under a small piece of plywood on the edge of the railroad ravine.
