(cort.) Hwy 78/79 on Boulder Cr. Rd., 4000 ft,
San Diego Co., California
Open forest, thick litter, rocks, some slope.
Dave & I each get 1 E. e. klauberi
and 1 skinks before GSA ranger
accosts me & diplomatically asks
us to leave. We do. Herps were
under logs. My klauberi a
subadult, DBW's an adult.

78/79 W. of Julian, 4400 ft, San Diego Co.
This is beautiful thick but open
forest, w/ many logs and plants
on ground. Several tourists around
so we leave tools behind. Kay and
I get 5 klauberi, JC 6, & DBW +
SH 9. They are truly strikingly
colored (rich orange blotches here),
especially subadults. Usually
immobile when exposed, but
one took off. There are many
