There H. 1979 2 March (cont.) Jinestone Canyon, 6.7 mi SE intersection of S-25 and Santiago Canyon Rd. where it crosses the main stream, Orange Co., California Oaks along hill & stream - We are trespassing on the Irvine Ranch, and repeatedly buzzed by helicopters. 42 Batrachoseps nigivertis, 1 B. major. Silverado Canyon, near end of Public road on Nall. Forest land, Orange Co., California Very nice wooded canyon w/ nice running stream. In ca. 1 hr we got only 5 B. nigivertis. We had trouble getting access in this canyon. Dave talked to one rancher, who refused - big wing guy, late 40's. Candy cowboy shirt, big buckle, huge cowboy hat w/ large feather in it. Sort of rough & stupid but cagey looking. Forest service fellow later said this guy probably would shoot at trespassers. Kay, DBW, JC eat good chili, I mistakenly see HB.
