Jinestone Canyon, 6.7 mi SE intersection
of S-25 and Santiago Canyon Rd. where
it crosses the main stream, Orange Co.,
California
Oaks along hill & stream - We are
trespassing on the Irvine Ranch,
and repeatedly buzzed by helicopters.
42 Batrachoseps nigivertis, 1 B. major.
Silverado Canyon, near end of Public
road on Nall. Forest land,
Orange Co., California
Very nice wooded canyon w/ nice
running stream. In ca. 1 hr we got
only 5 B. nigivertis.
We had trouble getting access in
this canyon. Dave talked to one
rancher, who refused - big wing guy,
late 40's. Candy cowboy shirt, big
buckle, huge cowboy hat w/ large
feather in it. Sort of rough &
stupid but cagey looking. Forest
service fellow later said this
guy probably would shoot at
trespassers.
Kay, DBW, JC eat good chili, I mistakenly see HB.
