1 March (cont.)
East Portal Adit, 1/4 air mi SE Calegon,
1600 ft, Riverside Co., California
Very open, boulder covered hills, few trees &
logs, much trash. J.C & I trespass &
are immediately caught by two ranchers
- we are "hiding" while Dave and Kay are
to act like the car is broken down. Instead
Dave tells the truth and they are very
cooperative. The elder even sends
his "boy" (~mid 40's) along to help us at
this and the next locality. Calls Dave
"young fellow" (appreciated) and Kay
"young lady" (not appreciated). Pouring
rain and cold. We get thoroughly
soaked.
1 Batrachoseps major, 1 small Coleonyx,
1 Xantusia vigilis, 1 G. multicarinatus,
≥1 Enneeces. These were under surface
cover.
Calegon Shaft, 1/2 mi SSW Calegon, 1600 ft,
Riverside Co., California
Same habitat as above, but steeper. Miserable
weather - rain & cold. 1 Batrachoseps major
1 Coleonyx, ≥1 Enneeces.
