18 July (continued) green building by the RR). Saw several medium and large Gremidophorus (caught 4), several medium & large Uma (caught one of each size) and numerous hatchling Uta. No other lizards, no tortoises, no predatory birds. Very hot, no flowers. Drove to California City and got room at the Desertwood; showered and napped.

Drove out to the Desert Tortoise Visitor Center and walked around their trail during a great sunset over the Tehachopis. Saw Bobcat and canid scats on the nature trail. Road hunted Neurlia Rd to Phillips Rd to Hwy 14, back across Neurlia and on to Tortoise Reserve via 2 miles of dirt,
then back via Phillips to Hwy 14, and back to Cal City via Neurlia Rd. Saw only one snake, a .5 m Pituophis (AOR, 2209h no palpable food, not kept) 3.6 mi N. Cal City Blvd on Neurlia Rd. Full moon.
19 July Early breakfast, then out to W. side of Tortoise Reserve. Saw several Callisaums in the wash, a pair of Gremidophorus in which the ? (?) was hopping w/tail arched (photo), a live adult Gopherus (#105) at 0855 hr, an adult shell that was marked "CAC 5-5-80", a dead juvenile under burro brush w/ a large hole in the carapace (photo), and
