11 July (continued) The letter will occur in the junk of sage, so perhaps that is where P. douglasii forages. K.T. also found a dried and partially eaten (bugs?) Eunectes on the outcrop. We left ~ 1300 and drove to Tacoma via Santiam Pass and Salem.
17 July Left Berkeley ~0730 h and drove to Pisgah Water, San Bernardino Co., w/ H.E. Baker. Bought groceries in Bakersfield and arrived for supper at Pisgah ~1900. Started to road hunt ~2100, just after large, orange ~ full moon came up. Drove E to RR, then ~ 10 miles W, then to RR and stopped. Got two small Crotalus cerastes. Just after midnight something stung/bit Beth (we found out in her sleeping bag) and because she developed a whelt, apillary soreness, and numbness in her arm and hand, we drove to Barstow. Got gas and coffee and pancakes, and by then she was better so we returned to camp.
Saw a Canis latrans cross the road going back.
