Coral Hollow area, Alameda/San Joaquin Counties
California
Left Berkeley for here approx 1630, spent some
time watching birds on Mines Rd. then
started down Tesla/Coral Hollow Rd. Before
dark (still sunny approx 1900) found a approx 4'
Lituophis crawling across pavement -
extremely aggressive, hissing, striking,
tail vibrating. Around Castle Rock
we saw owls, Anthozous, and horned
larks. After dark road-hunted from the
Pass to I-5 twice, and found numerous
Scaphiopus hammondi, 1 large
Janpropeltis getulus crawling across
the road, and a Lyncx rufus that
walked quickly across in front of us.
