Greene, H. 1981 23 May Pitvophis, Arizona Chisosacta, and (continued) Crotalus scutulatus, 24 May Drove to Darwin Falls by way of Randolbyz and Trona. Stopped at rock pile S. of Searsles Rd Jct. - saw Scelopous magister and Uta. Arrived at Darwin Falls = 1330, after stopping at Jct. Panamint Valley Rd & 190 where we saw no lizards - in contrast to two weeks ago. Noosed a Crotaphytus bicinctores on a rock above the parking spot & pickled it w/in 1 hour. On walk to falls saw many Bufo boreas adults and tads. Drove to turn off above the usual place - this is 6.4 mi from 190 on Darwin Rd., and then went 1.2 miles to where several people from Berkeley were camped. Ate supper and at dusk went a short distance down the road to where Ed Hesho found a Crotalus mitchelli among plants on the canyon floor. As we drove out to road hunt after dark I got another crossing the dirt. Road hunted on Hwy 190 'till = 2330 - got several Geonys and 2 Phyllodhynclus decrystatus.
