15 may were crawling when found. The Hyla was (continued) numerous transforming individuals around the margin of the above mentioned pond.
16 May Bismos Regional Park, Contra Costa Co. California Returned again today w/ other half of the Zool 107 class. This time went immediately to old archery range, where it seemed cool, shady and relatively moist. Saw 2 Ensatina, 2 Batrachoseps, and 1 G. multicarinatus there. Back down in the valley, including the pond at its upper end, we saw several Sceloporus, Genhonorus, and a Thamnophis couchi (perhaps the same ? as yesterday).
22 May Left Berkeley just before 2400 last night and drove to California City w/ Kurt Schwersh and James Stewart (Univ. Tulsa, former MVZ student). Walked around creosote scrub at SW corner of (and off of) the Desert Tortoise Reserve, ~5 mi N. California City. Saw 3 Gopherus and quite a few lizards: Cnemidophorus, Uta, Callisaurus, and Phrynosoma platyrhinos. 4/5 Phrynosomas we got while driving slowly on a dirt road. Got room at the Driftwood and mapped til ~5:30. Ate supper in Mojave then drove out Oak Creek Rd. ~9 mi W(?) of Mojave we turned Joshua Tree logs for ~45 minutes - got ~20
