Greene, H. 1980 16 December more easily moozed - we caught 19 and a (continued) single diolaenus lemniscatus . The latter was basking on a small low boulder in grass, near the pier. It curled its tail in the air as I approached. The D. nigromaculatus were noteworthy for their aggressiveness - they twisted and bit very fiercely. Several seen to head butt and feces were prominent on some of their boulders. We observed two feeding, both by short rushes at small items - one (still in mouth when moozed) was a little (x5 x2) tan coleopteran . Left x1530 and drove N. along the coast a few km to a restaurant overlooking the beach. Had eligos (sea urchin gorado saw - I ate x1/2 my bowl - they're awful) and some great seafood empanadas. Then drove back to Janpa by same route, stopping to photograph overgrazing (goats) as we crossed the coast range. Bought a nice Callopistes from a horse train in Janpa for $2.00 and arranged to return tomorrow for more. Nice day - no problems, lots of lizards, and a pleasant companion!
