14 December success. Eventually reached Parque Nacional (continued) de Cerro la Campana, and drove almost to the summit, caught several Geolamus ferus on tree trunks, including a brilliant green male. Also saw 2 d. schwedleri and noosed 1. Had a good empanada before starting the long drive back to Santiago via Quillota. Forgot to mention that we saw numerous caracozas and at least two nice Chilean eagles in flight (near the crest of the coastal range), and that we tried unsuccessfully to catch a small Collopistes. It ran into a burrow in a roadbank as we were driving on a dirt road on the coastal side of the highest ridge we crossed (ie., as we were unsuccessfully attempt to drive N. to Cerro Pobles). It ran in a burrow and escaped from a back entrance 1/2 m up slope as Hermann dug after it. The day was marred by a bad argument w/ Math and a flat tire on the Panamerican Hwy driving home.
15 December Went to permit office, successfully, and to Bariloche. Had nice tour of Universidad Catolica and gave seminar on snakes.
