There, H. 1980 11 December Picked up export permit and visited Nelly at the Museo. Took numerous photographs for her. She says Bothrops lasiurus ranges from Trujillo north, and B. pictus from hence south. Went to the mercado on Avenida de la Marina (cuadra 10) in Pueblo Libre in the afternoon. 12 December Paid bill and left for airport at 0730. Amusing argument about quality of Braniff service between older gentleman and clerk. Left on time, legzards in coat pockets, no problems. Great views and several photos as we flew down the cordillera and central valley of Chile. Met at airport by Fabian Taksic and friend; no problems with customs. Learned that Fabian and Mark saw a Philodryas at Los Dominicos and caught a huge scale Callopistes maculatus - they found it under a log which also covered its burrow (log was approx 1.5 m x 1.5 m). They dug up the burrow, approx 1 m & 15 cm under surface, parallelly and under a partially buried tree limb or root. They got the lizard though broke it's tail. They also collected Liolaemus fuscus, L. nitidus, L. monticola, and L. lenticulatus. After some supper and showers, a nice get together at Bernardita's house.
