Greene, H. 1980 7 December Sick as a dog! Allowed Galapagos to run loose in shower - when approached frontally w/ a hand, it open mouth threatens, hisses lightly once, and "nervously" thrashes the tail (posterior part of it). 8 December Still sick. Mark went to Chile tonight, since there's nothing for him to do here. 9 December Turned in paperwork for export permit. Still sick, getting better. 10 December During Lima Prov. tour Left Museo Javier Prado w/ Nelly Carillo & the museum taxidermist, by taxi, then small bus to this town. Two attempts on my billfold, one by an old man and one by an Indian woman with a baby. Not a bad ride - we were sitting - and we arrived 8/10:30. Walked 3-4 km to the beach: SW of town through fields along dry river bed, just S (?) of the huge Ruinas de Pachacamac, across Pan- American Hwy, down to water's edge. Saw many Homeniscus sp. on the ground in cave and on small trees and boulders along the way - and no other lizards where they were. Caught 8-10 w/ noose, not difficult. Males are olive green w/ yellow facial stripes
