Greene, H. 1980 3 December Went to Belco Schools for brief visit, then back to yesterday's site. I learned its name from John Bowlin's father, and that it is near Verdun. Quelzada Acholao, ~ 5 Km (air) NE Negritos Piura Prov. Peru. This place is reached by driving ~ 2.5 km N. of Negritos on the paved road to Talara, then turning E. at a small farm (with large conal st horses), gong .9 Km then turning N. on a dirt road for ~ 2.8 Kms, then E on a dirt road for ~ 2.0 Km. There are oil wells here and there, and the Bridas Oil Camps residences are visible to the NW before one drops into the Quelzada. We got a nice look at a Dusycyon crossing the road at 0830 hrs as we drove to this place today. Walked around for 1 hour, but saw only reptiles and Dicrodon - I watched one of the lizards run ~ 15 m up an almost vertical slip face. After leaving we drove to Chiclayo via Sullana, Piura (lunch), Sechura, Bayovar, and Moropje. Stopped for brief walk on beach north of Bayovar, and again at cliffs near Bayovar. Didn't see any Tropidurus peruvianus - too hot? After considerable troubles
