21 November Then to Plaza de Armas and Jirca
(continued) Techniplast, where they fixed Mark's
shoes on the spot. Next to a fine
bookstore at Jiron Union 560, where I
bought a book on Atahualpa, a novel
map, and "Papel Sello Serto" for my
permit application. Then to Faucett
for reservations and on to the
Museo Javier Prado. Had a very nice
visit w/ the Director Ramon Ferreyra,
and a phone conversation w/ Nelly
Caiillo de Espinoza. Then back to hotel,
dinner, etc.
22 November Slept a little late, and went to Museo Javier
Prado for 10 AM meeting w/ Nelly Caiillo,
who arrived ~10:30. Perfectly nice woman,
and we had a friendly, productive
conversation in EspaƱol for ~1 hour.
Traded publications, and I promised
her a lizard pole. She showed us her
collection, which included a couple
of really interesting things. One was
a large snake I took to be Micrurus
spiza but which I then saw was
an Erythrolamprus - it was exceptionally
heavy-bodied and ~8-1.0m long.
