Cuzco, H.
1980
20 November (continued)
human wastes here and there - a real
potpourri of sights, sounds, and smells.
Had a nice time bargaining w/ a
pretty Indian woman over a porocho.
Her little niƱa looked ill - as do many -
and Mark noted that we saw many
babies but far fewer older children.
For supper we first walked E. of the
Plaza de Armas to La Quinta, a restaurant
said to serve guinea pig. It was closed,
but the walk was interesting - down & up
narrow Inca streets, past the wall w/
the famous 12-cornered stone. (Incidentally,
twice in Cuzco we went by small portals
in doors at night & saw an expressionless
face staring out - at least once it
was a soldier, buterie more-the-less).
Eventually had fine meal at the Turi
on the Playa.
21 November
This time we took off and I got many
photographs of the Andes. Back in Lima,
own taxi ride to Pension Alvarado was
wild - almost hit by a dungtruck.
Accelerator pedal was shaped like a foot,
toes and all! After checking in, went
to see Jose Kechling for lunch, and portofier.
