Greene, H. 1980 16 November left MVZ with Mark A. Wilson, former student in my herpetology course, for 5 weeks in Peru and Chile. Seated next to Chuck Hart, a fisheries/boat builder type from Seattle who had formerly lived in Peru for years. Got on plane in S.F. at ~1715, finally, ate ~2200. Long flight. 17 November arrived Lima airport ~0630, after interest- ing very low pass over seaport - could see numerous small fishing boats. Went to Pension Alvarado, Ave. Arequipa 4704, and got their last room, in an annex or adjacent side street. Went to deliver letter from D.B.W. to Sr. Jose Rocklein, a Peruvian businessman who's into tours, wildlife preserves, etc. Agreed to carry some things to Arequipa for him. Charged some money, then went to permit office (helpful but complicated) and to Museo Javier Prado. Nelly Carillo & the Director, Fenega, were out so we looked at their exhibits and left for a nap in the pension (very cold shower). There were several snakes constricting in the exhibit, one constricting "properly" a la Greene. Dinner at La Pizzaria in Miraflores was 5300 soles, room 4250, posbodes.
