3 October prairie falcon. Ate supper in Mojave and (continued) road hunted to "Grasshopper Wash" via Oak Creek & Tehachapi-Willow Springs roads and back, then up Hwy 14 to Phillips Rd. and then over a view miles of dirt roads west of the Tortoise Reserve. Got 4 snakes and a DOR Sceloporus, saw a few Dipodomys and a burrowing owl.
4 October Pisgah Crater, San Bernardino Co., California woke up early and made it to here by 0815. Walked around till 1100. Saw young Uta, thwa (2 only), and Cnemidophorus, plus a few adult Cnemidophorus and Callisaurus. Kurt heard a noise by a ledge in lava rubble, and we located a small adult Sauromalus w/ slightly regenerated short tail. While we were trying to get it out heard a loud rattling behind us and saw a young adult Crotalus mitchelli go under a rock pile. Dug until it came crawling out very fast, still rattling and biting when pinned. Caught it. After lunch in Mojave went to Afton Canyon for some walking in the shallow waters of the Mojave River.
