24 May (cont.)
a rattler at Zirk's boulders, but
Rich Ostfeld found a very reddish adult
Pituophis melanoleucus crawling in grass
at the base of the hill. It was calm
until I repeatedly teased it w/ a finger,
finally hissing and striking a few imes. Next we marched back to the
4th (farthest) lagoon and saw 3
clemmys macrostata basking on
the same tree limb as yesterday.
Also found 2 Thamophis couchi,
from one of which I palpated a
partly digested three spined stickle
back fish and many small fish (?)
