morning more or less in one large group as I wanted to insure all saw a Crotalus. We walked a line over grassland near the first lagoon without seeing any Pituophis. Saw numerous transforming Thyla regilla and a swimming Thamnophis at the first lagoon. Then walked up the east facing grassy slope beyond 1st two lagoons, to fork in dirt road just past the fence, then up the winding dirt road that ascends the ridge of the E. facing slope. We were heading for a NE facing boulder outcrop where Zirk saw a big Crotalus yesterday. On the way I sent a woman student up a grassy slope on the left to check some boulders and she immediately found an adult Crotalus viridis stretched out in the grass. It rattled half heartedly and sprayed much when I picked it up. Seemed fat, though I couldn't detect any distinct food items. Had only 3-4 segments and was approx 80 cm long. Released it after photographs. Couldn't find
