4 May Got out to dunes at 38th & Washington @ 09:15 h. Saw tracks of lizards and a sidewinder,
and a few very way [illegible] Ura in the vicinity of the 2nd windbreak driving W.
from the intersection. People shooting a lot.
Drove up and down 38th street, turned N on
Washington & stopped at the next dune. Saw
Iguanosaurus, Ura, Cnemidophorus - all very
way and hot - and Kristine found a
Thynposona scat, fresh of course!
Ate lunch and sat out the heat while
Kristine went to buy a cooler and make a
phone call. At 14:08 h heard on the radio that
it's 98°F right now in Palm Desert. Note
that in driving from Washington Street to
here saw quite a lot of good looking
dune habitat (w/ very little thistle) along
44th street. Most of it had realtor
signs posted though. Next went to the
"Living Desert Reserve" and toured the
place - still obviously in progress, and
a nice educational thing for the layman.
A poor comparison, however, to Arizona-
Sonora Desert Museum or the Visitor's Center
at Agua Borrego. Next went to Garnett
