2 May 9419.9 - DOR Cnemidophorus.
(cant.) 9421.5 - DOR Dipsozaurus.
9425.0 - turn NW in Hwy 86 to Indio. 1748 hrs.
9466.8 - AOR/DOR Pituophis on I/0, 1405 krs., hot!
Hit by cars behind us.
9467.7 - Washington St. Exit. Stopped to get a
room & pickle the DOR's before heading to
Washington St. localities.
One thing I failed to note above, concerning
the sandy road we drove several times
5 mi E of Borrego Springs, was the high
frequencies of tail loss in every lizard
species. Callisaurus was perhaps an
exception, but we saw very few and caught
none. One of the two Garteria and
several each of the Uta and Dipsozaurus
were missing tails. Also, many of the
latter two species that we caught or
observed closely had regenerated tails. We
take this to mean heavy predation, but saw
no certain candidates. Coyote scat were
frequent, and roadrunners seem common.
9495.4 - DOR Mastophis flagellum on Snow Creek Rd.
9496.0 - Uta on rock beside road.
9496.5 - went up boulders at end of road 'til 1800 hrs.
Noticed a Uta, 2 Petrosaurus, 3 Sceloporus occulti.
This is at the end of Snow Creek Rd.
